Sweetest Pin - Trophy and Awards Display

Do you have old trophies and awards, that you don't know what to do with?  I just love this idea from Cuckoo 4 Design.  Her husband had a large collection, that wasn't being displayed.

Here she combined plaques from old trophies combined with medals.

I could see this being used with old vintage trophies.

How do you display your trophies, medals, awards?  My husband loves running marathons and he has a bunch of medals.  I tried framing them, and I failed!  I would love to hear your suggestions on what you have done.

Sweetest Pin - Make a Tablecloth Fort for the Kids

This is the cutest, "wish I were a kid" again, pin.  Welcome to my newest series - Sweetest Pin.  Finding inspiration on Pinterest, from the many talented bloggers out there.

I just love this idea by Kate with Centsational Girl.  When I was a kid, I used to pull out every sheet and blanket my mom owned and created elaborate forts with her supported by all of her dining room chairs.  How amazing is this to have a subtle but amazingly fun place to play for the kids.  How I would have loved to have had my forts up permanently, with this you can!

My favorite part - those cute little curtains!

So fun!  I would love to hear from you - what do you think?

Father's Day and Grad Gift + Free Printable

Father's Day and Grad Gift + FREE Printable
{Thank you for giving me the World}

Here is a fun and super easy project for Father's Day, Teacher's and Graduates.

Download my free printable to make this thoughtful gift!

This is a great project with printable tag to give to dad, grandpa or any special dad in your life!  Perfect for Teacher's, and graduates or anyone who can "Dream Big".

You just need a few inexpensive supplies to make this thoughtful gift.  You probably have most of these already.

1.  Mini globe (I got these from Michael's.  They have 4 different varities right now.)
2.  Thumb Tacks
3.  Ribbon (I used brown velvet ribbon leftover from Christmas!)
4.  Hot glue

Start by cutting a desired length of ribbon, make it long enough to hang from a handle, hook or door knob.

Loop the ribbon...

And push the thumbtack through at the ends of the ribbon.

Push the thumbtack through the top of the globe, centered on top of the world.

Pull the thumbtack out, neatly add a little hot glue in the hole and top to keep the thumbtack securely in the globe for hanging.

Print the tag, below.  Cut it out and attach.  This one I made for Teacher appreciation day.  I had my daughter sign on the back of the tag for a nice keepsake.

Vintage Style Art - on the cheap

Vintage Style Art - on the cheap

I created a fast and inexpensive family picture made from Scrapbook paper, and an awesome frame from Ikea for my Mother-in-law for Mother's Day.

I found this nice vintage style paper, and this great quote paper.  I selected my favorite saying for my Mother-in-Law's home.

I had this wonderful scrap of deep henna paper that I added to the back of the quote.  I stamped the quote on the edges to add a vintage feel.

I paired it with a blue patterned paper, her favorite color.

I then added this beautiful fabric ribbon.  I have used this on several projects, and it seems to tie in perfectly with anything.

This is a fast and inexpensive accent to any home.  You can do any colors to match any decor.

Here's what I did for my living room:

I mixed framed scrapbook paper with black and white images.  You can see the post here.

And my daughter's room:

What have you done with scrapbook paper?  I would love to see!  Don't want to make it yourself?  I have a few listed in my Etsy shop.

Organization Wall Part 1

Clutter- Boo!  Organization - Yes!

I hate the clutter in my house (and it put's my husband, the clean freak, on edge.)  The kitchen counter is a huge landing zone.  Now that my oldest daughter started Kindergarten there are multiple papers that come home, that need to be saved, sorted, filled out, etc.  My youngest daughter goes to daycare and brings home darling artwork I can't part with.

Enter the wall from the garage to the kitchen. Our daily path with loads of junk looking for a home. I used to have a mirror on this wall but we repainted, and I never hung anything back on it.

Company does not see this wall, the front door is the opening beyond the clock in the kitchen.

I am going to take charge of this wall and put it to use!  And once and for all clear the clutter from the kitchen counter.

Here is a sneak peek of one of the items that is going on this wall:

Eames Hang-it-All Coat Rack

I won this fabulous original Eames hang-it-all, and it has been sitting in my daughter's closet for 4 years.

Stay tuned for the finished wall!

What do you have in your home that helps you stay organized?

St. Patrick's Day DIY Door Decoration

{this 3-minute door decor is quick just in time for last minute decorating}

I was looking at my lone St.Patrick's Decor in my home and wanted to be more festive.  I found some fun things in the floral store at JoAnn's.

Here is a quick tutorial on how to make your own door decoration.

Supplies:

Hanging basket (mine was on sale!)
Green plant, I liked this moss one
Faux moss rocks (my package had large and small rocks)

Step 1:

Put the plant in the basket, and mold the leaves to look natural.  I stuck a little hot glue on the end just in case it is a windy day.

Step 2:

Hot glue (4) small rocks to basket to look like a 4-leaf clover.

Step 3:

Hang!

You are all set!

After St. Patrick's Day just turn the basket around
and add some spring tulips for Easter!
