Fall Gardening!

FALL GARDENING!

My favorite thing in Fall is planting a garden!  In Arizona it is just too hot to grow a garden in the summer,
so I have withdrawls.

As the weather starts to cool, I can't wait to plant new plants.  This year the girls helped me plant (okay a little, and then they lost interest.)

I so enjoy seeing my plants popping up, it makes me so happy and calm to sit and enjoy the garden!

This year I planted lettuce, spinach, broccoli, radishes, carrots, onions, cilantro, dill, basil, parsley, lavender, and I am testing tomatoes and eggplant.  I am still planning on planting peas.

What are you Growing this year?
Any tips?  I would love to hear!

Welcome Spring - Uses for Thrift Stores or vintage items.

Welcome Spring!

With the first day of Spring here, I always get in the mood for planting new things.  Instead of running out and buying new pots and containers, look around your home or hit your favorite thrift store and repurpose.  This is great for being green, decluttering your home {Spring cleaning}, and adding character to your yard and home!

Here are some fun ideas I found.

Winter Gardening

While others are getting their first snow, here in the desert it is fantastic gardening weather! I love being able to go out to my garden and pick veggies for dinner.

This year I have tried some new plants, radishes being one of them.  I planted them for my older daughter, who likes them (at least when we go out to restaurants) as one of her few vegetables she will eat.  I found a fun variety that are either red, pink or white.  Here's a few I picked for a salad.

I also picked my Argula, Red Leaf lettuce and chives to add to my salad.  It was delicious!  And, I didn't have to worry about it spoiling in the refrigerator before I could eat it.

My garden is fairly small, but I have a lot growing.  Arugula, Basil, Brocolli, Carrots, Chives, Cilantro, Cinnamon Basil, Eggplant, Garlic Chives, Mint, Parsley, Peas (2 varities), Radishes, Red Leaf Lettuce, Strawberries, Thyme.

What are you growing?  What are your gardening tips?  I would love to hear!
